Have you ever loved a person so much that you started hating them? Have you ever hated someone so much that you fell in love with them? Some of you might shake your head in a dismal but think over. All of us have faced such feeling sometime or the other. Feelings, sometimes seem to have a switch of their own that keeps on getting switched on and off.
When I talk of love it does not refer to the love you have towards your lovers, I talk of love in general; even the love you might show towards you friends. I remember, a good friend of mine had a best friend for a few years. They gelled along well, talked about everything and anything but then my friend started to avoid her friend. At first I didn't mean to intrude but out of anxiety had to ask what the matter was with the two best friends. She told me that when their friendship first sprang she looked only at the good qualities her friend had but later as they spent more and more time together she felt repulsed by the not so good attributes of her nature and realized that she already started to feel annoyed in her friend's company; and soon drifted apart. Now, when I talk about her friend she at times makes a face showing her dislike towards her former best friend. Their love turned into dislike and I think it would have turned into hatred of they would have spent some more time together.
Another instance is in complete contradiction to the above scenario. I knew a girl, who was a person who was easy to irritate and had a friend who loved to irritate the people around him. At first they burst into arguments when ever they spoke. The guy found it highly entertaining but the girl was always annoyed in his presence. Years passed and this childish play subsided. Now when they came across only a few pleasantries were exchanged. The girl once told me that how much she misses being teased but the guy never teases her anymore. She said it was like he had got under skin and it was difficult for her to shake him off her mind and heart. He had become an inseparable part of her existence. She had somewhere in the middle of their childish fights started loving him Her once upon a time hatred had turned into sweet love.
There are times that flip your feeling's switch and you realize it too late. Feelings play a game of their own. Destiny has it's own way of making us fall in love then in hate or make us fall in hate first and then in love. If I had to offer a piece of advice to escape this situation of love-hate and hate-love then, it would be:
When you love a person then love then without any conditions and demands and accept them with all their flaws.
And when you hate a person don't let them get under your skin by thinking about them way too much.
