A Happy New Year?

When the nation's mourning the death of the Delhi gang rape victim and the politicians are still blase towards the security of women in our country; we have rarely anything to be happy about. The year comes to a close with heaviness in our hearts.
Debates, protests and silent marches would soon come to an end. Also, the a revolution that saw it's beginning would fade away. And, then we'd go to parties, celebrate the beginning of New Year and get ourselves clicked to be on Page3, no? The incident that brought the nation together would lose it's mark, altogether. Is Damini's death an end to the revolution that hadn't even seen it's dawn, yet? Who is to know?
The year comes to a close. We have our 'To-Do' list ready. Let's make a few additions to it.
1. Let us not let the fire ignited within us die out.
2. Let us make a resolution to avenge the death of Damini by lawful means of justice.
3. Let us pledge to take the revolution to it's finale.
If the year ahead has to be a beginning of something, then let it be a beginning of goodness, respect towards women and unity amongst us.
Let it all begin in the good spirit of newness!

Tale of a Woman

Fear captures her heart in silence,
Voices deafen her in the crowd,
She is afraid to walk alone,
She is afraid at the thought of being held
Tears, they say, make her weak
Her sobbing figure looks so fragile and bleak
To whom to run, in her heart she questions
To the world, this tale of a woman looks a boring lesson.

Looking at the mirror, her heart sinks in shame
Her broken spirit, reflects the world's game
Gathering her wavering courage, she decides not to bend
The shattered pieces of her soul she needs to mend
Putting up a smile, yet, breaking inside
The ocean of emotions is hard to hide

A hand reaches to help her out of misery
The path ahead isn't easy,
Supported she manages to stand firm today
Taking a step each, reaching, the final day
Her eyes anticipating, her heart beating
An altered destiny, awaiting
The morning, at last breaks
Triumph of justice, in her heart aches.
