Last night I was bored. And therefore, decided to slouch on my sofa with television remote in my hand. Shuffling through the channels, I didn't stop at any but one. It was Mr. Amitabh Bachan hosting his popular quiz show. No! No! I wasn't in the mood for some knowledge spree. It was his thought provoking words. The contestants for evening were Lara Dutta accompanied by Sonali Banerjee, a shooter; who is one of many girls who have been victims to the disrespectful and disgraceful acts of a few worms in the society. Mr. Bachan said, "All those who think they are safe and secure within the walls of their homes are cowards, for they neglect the activities of the leeches of our society. The acid that was thrown at Sonali's face, it is not only an ugly remembrance for her but for every member of our society."
The words were moving. They made me wonder; how many times have I ignored an act of indignity to others? A couple, I guess. We have a mind set that it is not us who are suffering, then why care? But, believe me YOU could be next. Are we waiting till we become the next Sonali Banerjee? The worms and leeches of the society need to be evicted by voicing up whenever you see wrong being done. Justice can be achieved by Sonali and all the other victims only when each one of us stands strong in their fight against the wrongdoers.
